"True Colours"

We open at the courthouse. Peter is their with his parents and Emma. Because his dad parties with the district attorney, Peter got off lightly from the street race, just community service and a suspended license. But Principal Hotass is happy that Sean will be rotting in jail. Peter plays all sweet and innocent here to the adults, just like his character was billed as last year and then dropped. Too bad they should have realized he's an asshole after that time he sent around the tape of the girl topless. Hotass is a dumbass.

Peter gives an apologetic speech on the dangers of street racing on the school TV. Mr. Simpson doesn't buy his apology, but that has a lot to due with Simpson being a bitter old man who hates students. Peter is otherwise totally cool with helping to put a guy in the hospital. Emma is too. She doesn't even think about Peter's punishment until he tells her he is not allowed to take her to the upcoming dance. Emma says that is so unfair. Man, Emma's turned into a real dick.

Well, Emma will not be denied an opportunity to suck Peter off after the dance. She proposes Degrassi have a costume party dance, this way Peter can come in disguise. The student council overwhelming approved this over having Spinner and Jimmy jam with a mariachi band, but that is because the student council is made up of Liberty and Toby.

Jay comes back to school to talk to Emma about Sean and also because he needs a new DVD player. Sean is in jail and Jay tells Emma that Sean was sent to the infirmary after he was jumped in the chow line. Jay wants to Emma to go to his arraignment as Jay cannot because he has to work. A Reese's delivery truck is coming into Toronto and he and Alex are going to jack it.

Emma meets up with Peter that night. Emma is concerned that Peter is breaking his house arrested as well as driving without a license. Though she is helping him break house arrest to take her to the dance. Peter says it would have sucked if they guy had died because then he would not gotten off with a slap on the wrist. Emma is put off by Peter not caring about his punishment so she doesn't suck his cock. Instead, she just rubs it a little and goes home.

The next day, Emma goes to the courthouse to see Sean. Sean's pretty beat up. Kid can't handle himself in county jail. Sean is in trouble because his public defender did not show up, and if Sean does not get a lawyer he will be kept in jail forever.

Emma asks Simpson to help hire a lawyer for Sean but Simpson says no. Emma's next plan to help Sean is to hold a raffle at the dance. Long story short, Peter broke into Emma's locker, so it is likely he did plant the drugs in Sean's since Principal Hotass sees no reason in not letting her son have the run of the school. Emma breaks up with Peter and was totally about to kick his ass.

So now Emma visits jail again. Simpson is going to pay for a lawyer. I don't know where they will get the money for that because it has been established that the family has very little extra money. I think they'll start making Manny earn her keep with an internet site. Emma gives Sean some girly shampoo because Sean likes the well it makes Emma's hair smell.

Meanwhile, Ellie has still been working at the school newspaper. She is mad because her article got cut for not being good enough, even though last week they gleefully published her rant about how bad living in the dorms for one day is. When Ellie complains to the editor, he states that the paper is the 5th largest paper in Toronto and has high standards. Yeah, I'm sure all of their 57 readers expect the best. The editor then takes Ellie to a Wilson Phillips concert and they almost make out. Now Ellie and the editor are in a relationship. She saw his true colours.

Not my cup of tea. We didn't really need a third Emma-Peter-Sean/Ellie episode now did we? We didn't even need a first and second judging by how the last two episodes were. I don't know, this episode just felt very flat. Peter is not interesting what's the deal with having him on the show? The kid who plays Toby is tired of having to sit at home while everyone else is filming the show. How much cooler would it be if you had Toby do everything Peter had done? He could challenge Sean to the race, afterall he likes Emma and has a Jew car. Imagine if Toby had videotaped Manny's breasts. He would shot himself back into a wall with how much semen he would have released.

Intensity Level: 5% Intense
I think the intensity comes from how much Emma has been a total selfish cunt this week.

Can Some Canadian Explain:
Whether Sean's situation made sense? In the US at least, I was told when I was arrested that I had the right to an attorney and a speedy trial. I've watched every spinoff of Law and Order and know that if the government fails to hook you up with a lawyer than your case can't go forward and they eventually have to just let you go. In Sean's case they've implied that if he doesn't get a lawyer he is going to be kept in jail forever. Anyone who knows about police custody in Canada should shoot us an email.

"True Colours" Drinking Game:
Take a drink every time someone at the college calls Ellie a "frosh." What the hell is that, Canadian slang? I've never heard that word at college. When was the last time any Degrassi producer was at college, 1954? I think nobody at the newspaper knew Ellie's name so they called her that.

"Frosh" sounds like what winds up in Marco's butt after Dylan is done with him.
